As Ernest Holmes was about his teachings some time ago which continues to this day in his Science of Mind Church one wonders why this knowledge has not become more prevalent?

Our society is not unlike a hypnotist telling people over and over "You are ignorant, dependent, untalented, noncreative and helpless...." And everyone believes him! There are a few who refuse to believe the lies and mind-conditioning. These go on to become happy, creative, productive and successful. The true believers are left as cattle completely dependent on The System to do for them what they could do better for themselves if they could see through and smash the matrix (false beliefs) formed in their own minds. These are the ones who do not ask questions or question their experiences. They are asleep in a made-up dream.

SVP has been exploring this creative power we are told we have. What is it? How does it work? What are the physics and laws of this power? How are our experiences fashioned by our thinking? Can we each learn to use this power? What would our lives be like if we could command our own thinking/feeling? Such lines of thinking place us rightfully at the nexis of personal responsibility. We are no longer victims of circumstances or anyone else's 'evil' intents. Such an awakened person becomes as a God in command of their own personal universe - a Master as it were.

Why aren't more people more in command of their lives? Do you suppose we've been conditioned to be afraid to show initiative, do be ourselves or be different? Like for instance, when in grade school the hypnotist (teacher) had us play the "Simon Says" game wherein any initiative or nonconforming personal actions were made the butt of peer-derisions and embarassment? Or like when that other hypnotist (sports coach) regimented all personal initiative into "team efforts" and "team spirit"? I suppose we've all had our exposures to conformist encouragements to some pre-set "norm" or routine or "politically correct" mores of behavior. Perhaps this is why anyone showing personal initiative whether in practical or personal matters is considered "weird" and should be avoided and even shunned? (More pre-set Pavlovian behavior.) Repeated exposure to dogmatic indoctrinations (religions) have likewise moulded people's thinking into conformist non-thinking, victimization, etc. We've forged our own chains upon our thinking.....

What Holmes (and many others) has been telling us is we are in command. Or that we have the potential to be in command - not of others - but of our own personal lives and life's experience. We are the writers and choreographers of our time on our stage of life. James Allen, in "As A Man Thinketh", tells us the exact same thing. Change our thinking and our life changes. Krishnamurti and his followers advise becoming The Watcher (of our own thoughts) moment by moment every moment. In this way we become aware of our own thinking and feelings. From this intimate personal awareness we are then in a position to not think those thoughts and to think new thoughts - life then changes seemingly with no outward efforts. Inglaese describes a good method of reprogramming one's thinkng. Many methods have been developed to bring about different thought patterns; meditation, prayer, affirmations, change of friends, change of schools, locations and clothes. There are now being developed countless workshops, group effortings, various kinds of makeovers, recreations and programs. Find the one that works and DO IT! Realizing what you are doing (and nothing more) is changing your own thinking about your Self and the world at large. There is no magic and hence no magical "fix" to this or that problem. There is only thinking within Mind and the only thinking any has any control and jurisdiction over is their own thinking and Mind. Apply Self to that!
