URĈON
Text: Among the most interesting and prevalent symbols of Ophiolatry is the hierogram of the Circle, Wings and Serpent, known as the Urĉon or Urĉus. It is a prominent feature in the hieroglyphs of Persia, Egypt and Mexico, and has been found, though more rarely, in China, Hindustan, Asia Minor, Greece and Italy. It has been discovered in Britain, embodied in the wonderful temple of Abury. It's beyond doubt that this triple emblem is a symbol of the Diety. The circle is the solar disk, considered as the invisible embodiment or outermost manifestation of the Divine, or, as among the Persians, representing the whole circle (sphere) of the heavens, or the universe, regarded as the expression of the Creator, or simple essence of God, the Supreme Being and First Mind. The Serpent emerging from the sun is the Word or vivifying quality of Divine Life which called all creation into existence. The wings represent the active, moving omnipresence of God's Love prevading and penetrating all. The entire emblem typifies the Diety as Creator and Preserver.
